For your
IT moderation

Ferry van Saalbach

Your IT moderator for professionally thought-out events

Moderating IT events requires a very special skillset: the IT moderator should be entertaining, but also have a basic understanding of the technology and the relevant technical terms, especially when it comes to moderating specific topics such as moderating a cybersecurity event. In this way, even technically in-depth discussions can be moderated on stage in such a way that the specialist audience enjoys them and is happy to listen.

If this expertise is lacking, the presenter will quickly appear out of place and, in the worst case, may even lose the credibility of the entire event and damage the client's brand.

That is why it is always advisable to hire a professional IT presenter for IT events who at least understands who they are on stage for and, ideally, is genuinely enthusiastic about the topics and products of their client. This will also be appreciated by the audience and stage guests.

With Ferry as a moderator, our webinars take on a whole new quality. I would never have thought beforehand that a moderator could make such an enormous difference in a webinar.

What makes my IT moderation special

As a former IT consultant and salesperson, I have the necessary tools to be able to familiarize myself with the topic as a moderator for your IT event in the shortest possible time so that I know and understand what it is all about. I have been able to prove this in many IT events, especially cybersecurity events.

1

Step 1: Understand goals and messages

When moderating IT events, it is essential that the IT moderator understands what the event is about. If the objectives of your IT event are clear to me as a specialist IT moderator, I can design the moderation in such a way that your messages reach your audience in a way that is appropriate for the target group.

Step 2: Coordinate moderation

When moderating IT events, technical terms are often used or solutions explained. In order to always remain technically correct, the moderator of an IT event should first agree the exact wording of the moderation with their client. This ensures that everything is understood correctly, that all technical terms are used correctly and that the messages are delivered accurately.

Step 3: Honest enthusiasm

Even when moderating a meticulously planned IT event, the magic of moderation happens in the moment. The moment in which the IT event moderator asks an honest question, not because it is on his moderation card, but because that is exactly what he wants to know at that very moment. This creative freedom comes from honest enthusiasm. But its foundation is good preparation.

Frequently asked questions about IT moderation

What is an IT event?

IT events are events at which people from the IT industry meet to talk shop, find out about new products and solutions or simply network. They are characterized above all by their high level of professionalism, as a certain level of expertise is required due to the professional competence of the participants, even at informal events.

With a good IT moderation, the moderator succeeds in embedding the sometimes very complex IT topics into an overall process in such a way that both the audience and the guests on stage feel entertained and respected. This is always successful if the IT presenter can bring some specialist expertise to the table.

A good IT expert moderator always knows what he is talking about, can ask follow-up questions that arise from the conversation, summarize and break down overly complex explanations for the audience and thus give the IT event an entertaining, yet high-quality touch.
