For your
TECH moderation

Ferry van Saalbach

Your moderator for well thought-out technology events

Moderating technology events requires a very special skillset: the moderator should be entertaining, but also have a basic understanding of the technology and the relevant technical terms, especially when it comes to moderating specific topics. In this way, even technically in-depth discussions can be moderated on stage in such a way that the specialist audience enjoys them and is happy to listen.

If this expertise is lacking, the presenter will quickly look out of place and, in the worst case, may even lose the credibility of the entire event and damage the client's brand.

That is why it is always advisable to hire a professional moderator for technology events who at least understands who they are on stage for and, ideally, is genuinely enthusiastic about the topics and products of their client. This will also be appreciated by the audience and stage guests.

This is the second time that Ferry has acted as a professional moderator and guided us through our annual Silicon Saxony Day in English. It is remarkable how well and attentively he thinks along - not only in advance, but also on stage. You can simply rely on this man!

What makes my TECH moderation special

As a former IT consultant and salesperson, I have the necessary tools to be able to familiarize myself with the topic as a moderator for your technology event in the shortest possible time so that I know and understand what it is all about. My basic understanding of IT ensures that I can also quickly familiarize myself with related areas, such as the semiconductor industry.

1

Step 1: Understand goals and messages

When moderating technology events, it is essential that the moderator understands what the event is about. If I, as a tech presenter, am clear about the objectives of your event, I can design the presentation in such a way that your messages reach your audience in a way that is appropriate for your target group.

Step 2: Coordinate tech moderation

Technical terms are often used or solutions explained when moderating tech events. In order to always remain technically correct, the moderator of a technology event should first agree the exact wording of the moderation with their client. This ensures that everything is understood correctly, that all technical terms are used correctly and that the messages are delivered accurately.

Step 3: Honest enthusiasm

Even when moderating a meticulously planned technology event, the magic of moderation happens in the moment. The moment in which the technology event moderator asks an honest question that is not on his moderation card, but which arises because that is exactly what he wants to know at that very moment. This creative freedom comes from honest enthusiasm. But its foundation is good preparation.

Frequently asked questions about tech moderation

What does a technology moderator need to be able to do?

A good technology presenter succeeds in embedding the sometimes very complex tech topics into an overall process in such a way that both the audience and the stage guests feel entertained and respected. This is always successful if the tech presenter can bring some specialist expertise to the table.

A good technology presenter always knows what he is talking about, can ask follow-up questions that arise from the discussion, can summarize and break down overly complex explanations for the audience and thus give the technology event an entertaining, yet high-quality touch.

A moderator with a basic understanding of technology can handle almost all technological topics. This is because those who have a basic understanding of technological thinking can usually also think their way into other topics. A genuine interest in the relevant technology is often more important than relevant technical expertise.
