For well thought-out business events in the technology sector that achieve their goals, you need a moderator who can think through the topic of the event from a technical perspective, but also from an editorial, dramaturgical and ultimately even a sales perspective: Ferry van Saalbach.
This is exactly what I bring to the table. As a former IT consultant, I have a comprehensive basic understanding of technological contexts. As a former journalist and radio and TV producer, I know how the media works. And as a former sales manager and member of the management board of an advertising agency, I know what is important when it comes to marketing brands, products and solutions.
Being a moderator, I bring all of this together and support companies to make their complex topics work in a way that they resonate precisely with the intended audience and thus contribute to their goals.
As a former IT consultant and as someone who put together computers as a child and learned to run BASIC, HTML and PHP, it is easy for me to understand almost all IT topics.
Anyone who is interested in IT and grew up in the 90s also has an intrinsic interest and a childlike curiosity for technology and the associated connections. That's exactly what I bring to the stage.
As a former lecturer for scientific work and statistics, a politically interested guy and technology enthusiast and with an MBA in my pocket, I can create understanding between very different worlds and thus moderate a successful exchange.
Although I've never been active as a racing driver myself, I know a lot about Formula 1, 2 and 3, the DTM and a few other racing series. Perhaps it will be possible to combine a hobby interest and a career at some point?
What causes stage fright and shaky knees in others gives me a certain feeling of home as Ferry van Saalbach: I'm at home on stage. And you can tell that.
At hybrid events, the particular challenge for the moderator is to keep the technology under control, ensure that the connections work properly and operate them themselves if necessary, while providing all participants with information on all channels at all times in such a way that everyone feels covered.
Webinars have become a new media format of their own. Together with my clients, I create professionally planned events that are planned and produced like a TV show, but aimed at a small, professionally educated group of participants who watch them in a stream or as a recording.
The pandemic has taught us how to produce decent-looking images from the comfort of our own homes. In the course of this, I set up a green screen studio, from which numerous webinars have already been moderated without the necessity of a physical meeting.
German is my native language and accordingly also the language in which I write, speak, think, dream and of course also enjoy moderating.
I speak English at a very good level, but I am not a native speaker. However, I can understand and explain technological issues in English and bring them to the stage.
If my speakers slip too much into tech-speak, I usually still understand what they're talking about and can make sure that the audience follows along by asking clever questions.
As a former agency professional, I know that corporate wording is an essential part of a well-managed brand. That's why I will always speak the way your brand speaks when I'm on stage for you.
The decision to work as a professional and high-profile moderator for business events in the technology sector was made at the end of 2019. But even when I was still working full-time elsewhere, moderating was always an important part of my life. Today, I can look back on over 20 years of experience on stage and in front of the camera.
